How to Fix- Wi-Fi Not Working on a Fresh Windows Install?

1. Check if Wi-Fi is Turned On

How to install the Wi-Fi driver during Windows 11 setup (OOBE):


1. On another computer, go to your laptop brand’s support page (Dell/HP/Lenovo/ASUS/Acer/MSI).

2. Download the Wi-Fi driver for your exact model (Windows 11).

3. If the download is a ZIP file, extract it and make sure the folder contains .INF driver files.

4. Copy that extracted driver folder to a USB flash drive.

5. Back on the Windows setup network screen, choose Install driver, then select the USB folder that contains the .INF files.

6. Once the driver loads, your Wi-Fi networks should appear so you can connect and finish setup.

3. Enable Wi-Fi Adapter

Sometimes, your adapter may be disabled by default.



If your Wi-Fi adapter is missing after reinstalling Windows or you see network adapter missing in Windows 11, open Device Manager → Network adapters and check:

Why Wi-Fi Issues Are More Common After a Fresh Windows Install (25H2 → 26H2 Era)

In newer Windows 11 versions (including Windows 11, version 25H2, and the upcoming 26H2 cycle), Windows setup and early boot can be more sensitive to missing chipset + network drivers—especially on newer Intel/AMD platforms and some laptop-specific Wi-Fi cards. • Go to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings.
